Portigo update is globally available for the Lumia 920 and 820 by Nokia

In late December, we had mentioned an update for the Lumia 920 and 820, Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 mobiles, codenamed Portigo. A little later, it was time for the HTC 8X to be updated as well.

In the meantime, Nokia announced they started updating the operating system on their mobile phones, globally. The Portigo update improves the performance on Nokia’s smartphones.

Besides improving battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, messaging and boot-up speed, the new update improves camera quality. You see, there had been reports of blurry photos, taken under daylight, in some cases. The device is also now able to remain connected to WiFi even with a deactivated screen, and enables you to reject calls by sending an SMS.

The update process is already underway globally, and is expected to be completed until mid-March.
