Samsung Galaxy S 4. It’s official!

After months and months of waiting, numerous leaks and even more numerous arguments and discussions, Samsung Galaxy S4 is official.


During a very impressive show at New York’s iconic Radio City and parallel events at Times Square, Samsung managed to turn a smartphone presentation in a most iconic and luxurious event.

Samsung Galaxy S4 is a “life companion” as Koreans decided to call it. It looks pretty much as the device we have seen in the various leaks with Samsung not changing the design, contrary to what the company has led us believe in the past years. Though they did change the casing construction material as they inform us on a polycarbonate device, weighing 130grams (S III was 132) and 7.9mm thick (SIII was 8.6 mm thick).

The Samsung Galaxy S4 screen is 5 inches (4.99 to be exact), HD AMOLED, Full HD, with a pixel density of 441ppi and Gorila Glass 3. The CPU is powered by an octacore Exynos in 1.6GHz made by Samsung, or a quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon clocked at 1.9GHz, depending on the market. RAM is 2GB (LPDD3) while available storage will be at 16, 32 or 64GB, depending on the version you ‘ll decide to buy. In any case internal storage will be extended as the device supports microSD cards. Additionaly, the Galaxy S4 supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and sports a detachable battery of 2600mAh.

Two cameras are present, 13 and 2 megapixels that can definitely be discussed as the device’s strong point due to their smart functions. With the “Dual Camera” feature you can take shots from both cameras simultaneously, all of which you can combine in 8 different ways whereas, with Sound & Shot you can record a set of sounds before or after you take your snapshot to go along with it. With Drama Shot mode, Galaxy S4 can shoot up to 100 pics and create a collage. Eraser lets you “disappear” people from photographs. A new Story Album is available for you to organize your pictures and many, many more features.

The talk on the new Samsung Galaxy S4 is the smart features. Smart Scroll is for navigating in the screen without actually touching it and Smart Pause is about automatically pausing a video when your eyes are not set on the screen. Two more interesting features are Air View and Air Gesture. The first allows you to place your fingers on the screen and have a report on all messages and notifications, whereas the second, allows you to control features like music, answering calls or scrolling without touching the screen.

Thanks to Group Play, users can enjoy music, photos, files and games without having to connect to Wi-Fi or their data since they can connect with each other and share content. Some of the other interesting features are “S Voice Drive that is voice control or S Translate which is the simultaneous translation of your voice. S Health monitors your physical condition and Samsung WatchON makes your smartphone into a remote control.

As for the OS it is 4.2.2. Android, of course with the TouchWiz user interface used and developed by Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in white and black and it will be available in 327 networks in 155 countries, starting end of April.
