Will the new XBOX require an always on internet connection?

A lot of fuss has been created by the tweets of  Adam Orthy, a Microsoft employee, that confirmed the rumors saying the new XBOX (720) will require an always on internet connection in order to let us play games or to turn on the device in general!  The Microsoft employee also mentioned (in a tweet) that he cannot understand why do all the XBOX owners keep protesting about it, since having an always on internet connected device is the normal thing these days.

The funny thing of this story though is that Adam kept his ironic attitude tweeting more comments like:

"Sometimes the electricity goes out. I will not purchase a vacuum cleaner", or "the mobile reception in the area I live is spotty and unreliable. I will not buy a mobile phone."

Don't worry, you can find all his witty tweets over at NeoGAF.

Microsoft's comment on the whole thing was:

We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter.

Guess who's gonna have a rough time (and may loose his job) this week...
