Google scores better than Bing in malware test

During an 18-month study, German security company AV-Test tried out four different search engines (Google, Bing, Yandex, and Blekko), in terms of responsiveness, the quality of results each offered, their reliability and of course how safe their replies were. Out of these four search engines, Google was recently crowned as the champion in terms of safety and reliability, since after 10 million sites tested, Google returned only 272 malicious results. The full results can be found here, but since we're more worried about the Google vs. Bing comparison, we'll concentrate there. With about the same number of websites tested, Bing returned 1,285 malicious hits, which means that you're five times more likely to get malware via Bing than Google!

Of course, none of those numbers are really worthy of alarm, and really serve to illustrate just how great Google is at security, since it took the company 10 millions visits in order to get those 272 malicious results. Imagine how few to none you'll get in your every day stroll in the Web.
