Sony Xperia ZR officially announced


Yes it's official. Sony just unveiled its Xperia ZR smartphone, that's set to be third after the Xperia Z and ZL flagships. The device boasts a 4.55 inch LCD display with 720x1280 pixels resolution, with full support for Mobile Bravia Engine 2.

The Xperia ZR uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC @ 1.5GHz while featuring a well known GPU, the Adreno 320. It offers 2GB of RAM along with 8GB of storage and a micro SD slot.

The main camera of the newest Xperia model uses an Exmor RS sensor @ 13MPixels, with the ability to record 1080p video and HDR photos, along with the assistance of an LED flash. The secondary camera of the device has a mere VGA resolution but can help you in your video calls.


The Xperia ZR offers also full support for WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, DLNA, GPS, micro-USB2.0, HD Voice technologies, along with an RDS FM radio. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), and it weighs 140 gr, while its dimensions are 131 x 67,4 x 10,4 mm. Following the example set by its older brother (Xperia Z), the Xperia ZR is IP57 certified, therefore offers dust and water resistance. It will be available by the end of summer in several different color variations.
