Meet Medias X 06E, the first water cooled smartphone!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time you met the world's first water cooled smartphone, designed by NEC. Yes, you got it right, it looks as if the NEC Medias X 06E, is -after all- the answer to energy consumption in such type of gadgets, using a water-filled heat pipe designed to funnel heat away from the phone's processor!

Despite is techie approach, the elegant device remains sexy in every possible way, with NEC allowing you to deck the phone out with special “jewels” and coming in color choices such as pink. Outside of the unique cooling method, the phone appears to be a solid enough device, though nothing to get excited over.

The Medias X 06E is powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and features a 4.7-inch 720p OLED display, along with LTE support, IP58 certification and a 13.1MP camera. It will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, thankfully!

Of course most of you may ask: why did NEC bother to use such a unique cooling system? A Snapdragon S4 Pro processor will generate a fair deal of heat during certain use scenarios, but there is little worry about getting burned or even dealing with extreme discomfort. Still it is a nice touch, and one that could be useful for some users.

But NEC is doing all this, for one more significant reason. The company is merely testing its new technology to make sure it's working as it was supposed to, before using it to its other flagship models in the future. As you probably guessed already, the NEC Medias X is a Japanese-only handset, destined to arrive to NTT Docomo in June.
