Huawei Ascend G510 Review: Best value for (your) money at 199€!

Huawei Ascend G510 is a device that bares a lot similarities to the Honor 2, a smartphone we had the chance to review a couple of weeks ago, yet it is oriented at users with low end interests and... the appropriate budget.

In case you don't remember, Honor 2 offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage (along with an 8.0MPixel camera) and it's being sold at a price of 299€. Instead you can buy this one with 100€ less, at 199€ if you visit a Vodafone store near you!

Huawei Ascend G510 packs a dual core Qualcomm SoC MSM8225 @ 1.2GHz and Adreno 203 GPU along with 512MB RAM and only 4GB of storage. Thankfully there's a microSD slot available so you can use your microSD card to increase storage.

The memory card slot of course is placed below the battery cover of the device, which packs a 1750 mAh Li-Ion energy... bar, that enables the device to remain far from its charger for almost 1 and a half day if you're careful how you use it.

On the back side of the device there's a 5.0MPixel camera with LED flash, ready to record VGA videos (640x480 pixels) with autofocus support. On the same region you'll also find the speaker of the device that supports DTS technology, and on the upper side of the smartphone there's a 3.5mm audio jack slot along with some other keys (on/off, volume rocker) near. On the left side there's a micro USB 2.0 slot for PC sync and charging. The dimensions of the Huawei low-end smartphone are  just 134 x 67 x 9,9 mm, and its weight does not exceed 157 gr.

On the front side of the smartphone, there's a 4.5 inch LCD display (480 x 854 pixels) with 218 ppi. It's a typical touch screen with acceptable viewing angles and more than satisfactory color balance. There's also a VGA camera on the front side of the G510 for video calls and three capacitive keys below the display. G510 runs on Android 4.1.1 and uses Huawei's EmotionUI, the company's own user interface that a lot of you love!

The Ascend G510 also packs full GPS (A-GPS) support along with WiFi 802.11b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 and FΜ radio. Obviously there's a lot of competitiveness in this price range but still, Huawei Ascend G510 looks like THE best value for money device of the market.

Huawei's Ascend G510 is a well built device with an affordable pricing, that offers quite impressive technical specs. Unfortunately I believe that with a mere 512MB of RAM and a camera that records VGA videos are it's most serious drawbacks while its large display solves a lot of problems, with its brightness.
