James Bond's submersible Lotus Esprit goes for sale

Do you remember the magnificent Aston Martin DB5 that James Bond drove in the films Goldfinger and Thunderball? It is planned to go on an auction for almost 3 million pounds! The news though don't stop here, since another - not so classic- James Bond car, the notorious Lotus Esprit from the movie The Spy Who Loved Me, The Spy Who Loved Me, that can be transformed into a submarine (!) will also go on an auction.

It is scheduled to be auctioned on the 9th of September at Battersea Park, London from the company RM Auctions. This Lotus Esprit was introduced on the 1977 film, the third of the series with Roger Moore at the role of James Bond and it was real in every aspect, since it could indeed be submerged in the water and run like a submarine! The company that performed the alterations on the chassis of the Lotus is called Perry Oceanographic, based in Florida. The cost for these alterations it is said to cost almost 100.000$ in 1977. This means almost 500.000$ today's money!
