USB 3.1. Ready to hit us with 10Gbps speeds

The USB 3.0 Promoter Group announced yesterday the completion of the USB 3.1 specifications, which according to them will be able to offer transfer speeds up to 10Gbps with SuperSpeed USB feature set to on.  Just like its predecessor USB 3.1 will be backwards compatible with other USB devices.


The latest announcement from USB 3.0 Promoter Group opens the way to manufacturers like Intel and AMD to begin the construction of chips with USB 3.1 support and then use them in everyday devices like PC's, laptops etc. The first USB 3.1 developer sessions will begin on the 21st of August and the first commercially available products are scheduled to hit the market by the end of 2014.
