James Cameron is preparing three sequels for the Avatar

Not one, not two but three sequels were announced by James Cameron for the Αvatar, the movie which exceeded 2 billion dollars in box office by breaking any record, with the writers Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Shane Salerno (Savages), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the planets of the Apes) having already been getting down to work.

The three films will be shot together and the filming will begin next year, with the first film to come out in cinemas in December 2016, the second in December 2017 and the third a year later. Cameron said: "We will try to use all that we have created in the first film, which for us was a rare and a fantastic experience. Writing the film, I realized that the world of Avatar and the characters have been fleshed out and it was evident that the two movies would not show enough of what I want to present. I am very happy that I asked the help of Amada, Rik, Shane and Josh - writers that I always admired". The President and CEO of 20th Century Fox, Jim Giannopoulos, said: "We don't have greater priority at the studios than this and we are very glad, that we help James to continue and expand his vision called Avatar".
