The Monuments Men: A true war story and an excellent cast

Based on a true story, the greatest treasure hunt in the recorded history, the film shows the action of an elite group of people, who during the Second World War were entrusted with a very important task: To save the stolen artistic masterpieces from the hands of the Nazis and return them to their rightful owners.

And as this mission seems at first completely impossible, you must consider that this group, which should find the artwork and distract them from the Nazis, consists of museum managers, exhibition editors and art historicals. These great people of art may know everything for Michaelangelo, but it seems that they have not the slightest idea of how a weapon works. Which is the rate of success for a mission like this, if we consider that the fate of the art pieces is ignored completely after the command of their destruction, with the fall of the 3rd Reich? As these great "Monuments Men", as they called, decide to stand against time in order to prevent the destruction of a 1,000 years old cultural heritage, they finally don't hesitate to sacrifice their lives, for the sake of the largest collection of cultural monuments of humanity.

The film's cast consists of George Clooney (he is the director too), Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon and Bill Murray and is expected to be released in European theaters, in January 16, 2014.
