Well isn't it strange? Why does our voice sound so strange when we listen to it from a recorded medium, but our friends think it's OK? Well this is a normal, everyday question all of us have but trust me, there's a really reasonable answer to it.


So when someone speaks, he listens to two different things: his voice (just as others hear it) but he also listens to another sound, coming from the vibrations of our skull bones when we speak!! What we perceivbe as our voice is the combination of these two sounds! In the following video you can see Greg Foot explaining all of the above in his own way, along with examples.
