The nea Gmail app for Android has... spam?

Well here's something we didn't see come during the past few days. It looks like the latest version of Google's Gmail app for Android will include ads for its users, in order to bring profits for the company!

Obviously the app hasn't been released yet but it's expected to be available for install by the end of this week. According to analysts who check the code of the new Gmail app, it includes ads that will appear before the user - not like ads or banners- but like pure spam email that won't go to our Spam folders unfortunately. Reports from Android Police and TheDroidGuy insist that this is the case and they have found the following in Gmail app:

<string name="ad">AD</string>

<string name="ad_will_not_save">Will not save ad as message</string>

<string name="ad_will_save">Will save ad as message</string>

<string name="ad_dismissed">Ad dismissed</string>

It remains to be seen id Google has indeed implemented this advertising model in Gmail app and how users are going to respond to this. In other news,. version 4.6 of the app brings some UI and functionality changes like new, large icons and an improved notification regarding any unsent email. The only change that can be upsetting is the disappearance of the Cancel button when you are asked to send an email. No with this new version you cannot choose it, you just have to press the back button in your smartphone.
