India is getting ready to build the tallest statue in the world

The construction of a statue, which aspires to be the tallest in the world, has began in India. This is the "statue of unity" that shows Sardar Patel, one of the "architects" of the Indian Republic, which will reach a height of 182 meters, it will be two times taller than the Statue of Liberty and four times taller than the Redeemer Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro.

This "giant" statue is an "inspiration" of Narendra Modi, the prospective prime minister in the upcoming elections and it will be placed on an island near the Narmada river, while its construction is expected to last four years. He called in fact in a "symbolic" movement, farmers from across the country to donate their tools and scrap iron which they will melt and use for its construction, that will be financed from public and private sources, with the total costs to be calculated at 25 billion rupees (220 million euro).

The highest statue in the world, however, conceals "political aspirations" too, as it honors a hero of the independence of India, which belonged to the ruling party today in Congress, which is the political opponent of Bharatija Janada, the party of Modi.

Modi did not hesitate, in fact, to say recently that Patel would be a better political leader from the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, in contrast with the Nehru-Gandhi "dynasty" which continues to be the leadership party of Congress.
