Snapchat did not listen the... white hat hackers and "paid" it with 4.6 million victims

There are some people who are called white hat hackers and contrary to what black hat hackers do, they undertake to find security holes in applications and then inform the company behind the application for the matter and get paid. No social network is 100% secure and the same happens for Snapchat, which was approached by the Gibson Security company with two security holes which had been discovered, but the popular social application thought that took the necessary measures.

Ultimately, this has never been confirmed and a few days ago there has been a leak of usernames and telephone numbers of 4.6 million users of Snapchat. These info were published in www.snapchatdb.info. The telephone numbers are not published completely, but with the last two digits hidden. This move, in accordance with the previous site, was designed to pressure Snapchat to correct the serurity hole of which the company was notified. Snapchat is expected to take more seriously the case now, especially because one of the victims was the co-founder and CEO, Evan Spiegel.
