Sony is in talks to sell VAIO!

According to a report from Nikkei, Sony is considering to sell its computers division, VAIO brand, to a Japanese investment group, with the name Japan Industrial Partners. After the sale, Sony will participate with a small percentage in the new company which will manage the VAIΟ brand in countries that are well known and also in Japan, and is expected to withdraw them from markets where they didn't have great success.



The acquisition of Sony's computers department in Japan Industrial Partners is estimated that will cost 391 to 489 million dollars, but the deal is expected to be finalised by the end of March. As regards to the approximately 1,000 workers of the division, they will be absorbed by the buyer or will be transferred to other divisions of Sony. The report by Nikkei is confirmed by anonymous sources who spoke to Reuters and Wall Street Journal. As for Sony, they don' t deny it.
