Vodafone reveals the iPhone 5 will feature nano-SIM “by mistake”

Rumors about the new nano-SIM cards by Apple that the new iPhone 5 will support, have been around for some time, but now Vodafone UK seems to confirm this (even by mistake).

Just one day before we officially meet the iPhone 5, Vodafone posted -obviously by mistake- an article on its blog titled “First photos of Vodafone nano-SIM cards”. The article was taken offline immediately, but you can still view it, thanks to Google Cache, here.

This shows Vodafone’s new smaller nano-SIM cards, with the company revealing they have a stock of 500.000 new cards, while the text mentions that the first devices have now been announced. And it’s like this that the new iPhone 5 is pictured, and this is probably the reason why Vodafone rushed to remove the page.

The nano-SIM standard was approved last June, and it seems the iPhone 5 will be the first device to accept this new kind of cards, that are 40% smaller than the micro-SIM cards. Well, bit by bit we have learned almost everything about Apple’s new device. Let’s see what they will surprise us with in tomorrow’s event.
