Google acquires Instagram’s competitor

Google agreed to acquire Nik Software, developer of the Snapseed german photo application.

This application, which costs 3.99 euros, has been awarded as “iPad app of the year 2011” for its inventive multitouch photo-editing interface on iOS, and has been bought by more than 9 million users during the first year it was released.

At this time, it seems the company also prepares an Android version of the app, while it already owns other applications, like Color Efex and Dfine for MacOS and Windows, but Snapseed seems to be its greatest weapon.
