The original 1966 Batmobile goes on sale

Are you fans of memorabilia, and especially the Batman franchise? Then save the date of January 19th 2013, because it’s that day when the Barret-Jackson auction house in Scottsdale, will auction off what is probably the most legendary car on TV, which is none other than the Batmobile.

Made by famous customizer and celebrity car builder, George Barris, it was the car that Adam West drove in the classic TV series, aired from 1966 to 1968. The 1966 Batmobile is one of the most legendary cars in the history of Hollywood, with the bat-logo on the door capturing the imagination of all viewers for decades.

This was the first, original Batmobile (several others followed), that managed to establish a vehicle as the real star in a series, many years before Knight Rider. Apparently, the car is expected to hit a 7-digit number during the auction. Those of you who did not know what to give as a Christmas present, this is a good one.
