Kodak sold its patents to a group of companies for 525 million dollars

After Kodak found themselves owing 6.75 billion dollars, and got to a point where they filed for bankrupcy, one of the solutions so they could stand on their feet again, partially of course, was to start licensing or selling their most important assets, like their patents.

The troubled company agreed to sell their digital photography patents to a group of companies for 525 million dollars, which is much less than what they wanted and needed. So, even though this amount will not end the company’s problems, it does at least end their fight with Apple.

The deal was carried out by Intellectual Ventures, while RPX Corporation acted as a counsel in patent issues. The companies that make up this group and are entitled to licensing, number twelve.

Apple
Google
Samsung
Microsoft
Amazon
Facebook
Research In Motion
Adobe
HTC
Fujifilm
Huawei
Shutterfly
