What’s to blame for the sudden death of some Samsung Galaxy S3 devices?

There are some Samsung Galaxy S3 owners who report that their phone suddenly stopped responding. It won’t turn on after charging it all night, or after locking the screen. Dead in the water.

According to those users, 150 to 200 days after purchase, the phone quite suddenly stopped responding. The problem seems to be with the physical memory on the device motherboard.

Samsung has not made any official statement about this issue, but they seem willing to replace devices immediately, whether users have rooted them or not, as long as they are still covered by a guarantee.

Despite the multitude of comments on XDA Developers and Reddit, no one can tell exactly how serious this problem is. Maybe we could know more by Samsung themselves. What’s important however, is that Samsung’s customer support has been responding well.
